I’ve always been a blogger at heart but it all started when I was at Uni, on my humble Blogger site where I documented the highs and the lows of being a student and trying to work out what the hell I was going to do with my life.
Fast forward almost ten years (eek) and here I am, still blogging albeit on a new and, hopefully, much improved site with WordPress.
So who am I?
I’m in my late twenties, work as a media relations manager (PR) and live on the south coast with my boyfriend in a Victorian house, which we’re currently renovating.
The Beach Blonde has been running for about four years now, and it began initially because I missed blogging. I’d also finally learnt to surf so it became a space for me to dive head first into a world which I immediately fell in love with. Gradually, I started using the platform to rant about plastic pollution (long before Blue Planet 2 got involved) and shine a light on other environmental and conservation issues that were close to my heart. Every time I went on holiday I then added a post about travelling, and so the site grew…
A few years ago, I took the plunge and quit my job in publishing. It was a tough decision but it meant ditching a four hour commute to the city that had been grinding me down heart and soul – and so the wellbeing category evolved. I suddenly had space to breathe, relax and reflect. But I missed being surrounded by books, so that category got added too.
Then we moved, leaving behind our first home together – a flat by the seaside – and embarking on a totally new adventure in our first house. And so, the home category was added.
So that’s a history of the blog in a nutshell!
I don’t claim to be an expert on any of the topics I write about – but I am honest. I’m just an average millenial trying to navigate through life. A woman who loves spending time by the sea, losing herself in a book, exploring new places, and speaking up for the natural world.
Oh and dogs. Can’t believe I didn’t mention dogs.
Or cats for that matter. I don’t buy the ‘you’re a cat OR dog person’ rubbish. I’ll happily have lots of either….
